Overview
This webinar recording offers valuable insights into how the BEC course is saving lives and supporting frontline health systems across the Region.

Emergency care is essential to protecting lives and health. Many frontline health workers – particularly in low-resource settings – lack access to structured training in how to assess and manage life-threatening conditions. Basic Emergency Care (BEC) is a clinical approach to the early assessment and management of acutely ill and injured patients, especially in time-sensitive situations where early intervention saves lives.
To support the delivery of this approach, the World Health Organization (WHO), in collaboration with partners, developed an open-access training course for first-contact healthcare providers. This webinar features nurses and health leaders who are using the BEC approach in their daily work and leading efforts to expand BEC training in their countries and communities.
Whether you are a government official involved in health policy and service delivery, a nurse, emergency care provider, educator, or researcher, this session offers practical insights into how BEC can strengthen frontline response, support clinical decision-making, and improve outcomes – especially in resource-limited settings – and how its implementation is expanding across the Region.
