Our work
The Regional Emergency and Critical Care Systems Strengthening Initiative (RECSI) operates across three key geographic streams: Timor-Leste, Papua New Guinea, and the broader Pacific (with activities predominately delivered in Fiji as a central hub for regional efforts). Each of these regions faces unique healthcare challenges, and RECSI’s tailored approach ensures that local systems are strengthened to respond effectively to emergency and critical care needs.
Workforce capacity & training
Providing comprehensive training programs to healthcare professionals.
Key objectives
RECSI is committed to strengthening healthcare systems and improving emergency preparedness across the Pacific. The collaboration focuses on four key thematic areas that will drive lasting improvements in acute care:
Systems & processes
Streamlining and enhancing healthcare systems to improve efficiency and patient outcomes.
Data & research
Elevating the capability to collect, analyse, and utilise healthcare data for informed decision-making.
Leadership & governance
Strengthening leadership and governance to foster sustainable improvements in healthcare.

In Timor-Leste, RECSI is focused on supporting healthcare systems, especially emergency and critical care at the National Hospital in Dili. By supporting local clinicians and healthcare institutions, we are aiming to enhance workforce capacity and assist in building sustainable healthcare systems that will improve quality of care for those in need.
