Overview

This online module supports learners to develop knowledge and practical strategies for improving access for, and inclusion of, people of all genders and people with disabilities to the healthcare services which they need.

Target Audience

All healthcare workers and those working in healthcare settings.

Core Learning Focus / Outcomes

Through completing this module, learners will

  1. Have basic knowledge of current concepts of disability and gender from social model and rights-based perspectives;

  2. Have a basic knowledge of what is meant by disability inclusion and gender equity;

  3. Be aware of key types of barriers experienced by women, girls, gender and sexually diverse people and people with disabilities to accessing health care services; and

  4. Be aware of key components of working towards a hospital/ health service being inclusive of women, girls, gender and sexually diverse people and people with disabilities (particularly participation of people with disabilities).

Format

This online module should take approximately 40 minutes to complete, and you will receive a completion certificate upon full completion, which can be used for CPD requirements.

The module includes videos and interactive learning content including knowledge tests.

This module has been developed based on a package of in-person training which was delivered in collaboration between Interplast and Pacific-based gender and disability organisations across a number of Pacific Island countries.
