Critical Care Refresher Training

Nursing and medical staff will participate in separate training streams, with joint sessions for senior staff to discuss practice change and protocol development.

Nursing training will be delivered four times over two weeks to ensure coverage of all ICU teams are covered, with selected Emergency staff also participating. The three-day ICU refresher training program is designed to update and consolidate core knowledge in anatomy and physiology, with direct application to ICU equipment, monitoring, and patient care. The program aims to prepare participants for more advanced training courses (such as BASIC, BASIC for Nurses, or ECCC), strengthen the application of theoretical knowledge to practical ICU skills, support the development of standard operating procedures and patient care protocols, and foster cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Medical training will be conducted in smaller groups over several days and will incorporate bedside teaching, mentoring, and targeted sessions tailored to individual learning needs identified by local counterparts.
