Overview

The Australian Living Evidence Collaboration (ALEC) is a world-first initiative that supports evidence-based clinical decision-making in Australian healthcare by providing continually updated evidence syntheses and clinical guidelines. Established in 2018, ALEC brings together clinicians, researchers, policymakers, organisations and people with lived experience to develop Living Guidelines using a world-leading Living Evidence model. Underpinned by continual evidence surveillance and monitoring, ALEC’s Living Guidelines can rapidly incorporate important new research while maintaining rigorous, trustworthy methods. This approach ensures healthcare professionals have access to reliable, accessible and up-to-date recommendations that reflect the latest available evidence.

Lead by Cochrane Australia within Monash University School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, partnering with 86 health organisations.
